Stephen Craigie came from 3-0 down to beat Jimmy White 4-3 on the opening day of Star Xing Pai Players Tour Championship event two at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
Former UK and Masters champion White made a blistering start with breaks of 83 and 143 in winning the first three frames. But Newcastle's 20-year-old Craigie, a former European Under-19 Champion, recovered to win four in a row, winning the last two on the colours.
He goes through to the last 64 to face Kurt Maflin, a 4-0 winner over Jake Nicholson.
Brazil's top player Igor Figueiredo edged out Robbie Williams 4-3 with top runs of 88, 51 and 50, to set up a match with Tom Ford, who beat Rileys Future Stars of Snooker winner Joel Walker 4-0.
In the all-amateur round, veteran Tony Knowles lost 4-2 to Mitchell Travis, while Steve Davis' son Greg beat Martin O'Donnell 4-3 to earn a meeting with Stephen Maguire.
