Taylor wants to hit the Jackpot

15-time world champion ready to take on fellow Stokey in Premier League

Phil 'The Power' Taylor has said he is relishing his clash with newly-crowned world champion Adrian "Jackpot" Lewis.

Taylor and fellow Stoke thrower Adrian Lewis will be the main attraction when the 2011 Premier League kicks-off in front of a 10,000-strong crowd at London's O2 Arena on February 10.

All the matches will be shown live on Sky Sports HD and Taylor said this year's field could be the strongest yet.

"This is going to be the best Premier League ever," said Taylor. "I am really looking forward to this one.

"I will get some rest in but I will be putting a lot of work in before the competition starts.

Anderson in

Also in this year's line-up are Gary Anderson, the man Lewis beat in a classic final at the Alexandra Palace to claim his first world title, and Welshman Mark Webster who dumped out Taylor at the quarter-final stage.

Completing the line-up are Aussie ace Simon Whitlock, world number three James Wade, flying Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld and World Championship semi-finalist Terry Jenkins.

Taylor has been installed as Sky Bet's favourite at 13/8 with Lewis, Anderson and Whitlock all at 11/2.

Lewis said he knows that the rest of the field will be out to dampen an electric start to his 2011 campaign.

The 25-year-old said: "I've won the world title, but this is the second biggest tournament, so I will be wanting to do really well.

"The clash against Phil is a cracking first match. It will certainly put bums on seats at the O2."

Last year, Taylor topped the group stage with 26 points and then beat Wade 10-8 in the final.

Seventh

Lewis failed to reach the play-offs after finishing seventh in the group, and is determined to improve this year.

He added: "I had a good start last time, but then broke my darts and ended up struggling.

"It's going to be such a high standard throughout, but I definitely want to go further this year."

The Premier League will be held over 15 consecutive weeks from February until May at venues in Cardiff, Aberdeen, Sheffield, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bournemouth and Newcastle.

The top four players will contest the play-offs at Wembley Arena on Thursday, May 19.
