Ready For Action in China

 China OPen Press COnf

Snooker's top players received an enthusiastic welcome in Beijing ahead of the Sanyuan Foods China Open, which starts on Monday.

Over 100 journalists attended a press conference which featured speeches from promoter International Sports Limited and the event's official partners, as well as interviews with top players such as Betfred.com World Champion John Higgins, defending champion Peter Ebdon, Stephen Hendry, Mark Selby and home favourite Ding Junhui.

This was followed by a welcome banquet, then a trip to Renmin University of China for Ebdon, Mark Allen and Judd Trump, where they fielded questions from a group of 400 students. Ebdon entertained the thrilled fans by signing (a cappella) a few lines of 'Angels' by Robbie Williams.

The tournament at the Beijing Students University Stadium runs until next Sunday.
