Manley takes heart after scare

PETER MANLEY is back at home after a heart scare and admitted: I thought I was going to die.

The former world No 1 was taken to hospital two weeks ago when he complained of being breathless after a virus.

He has since been diagnosed with having an irregular heartbeat and told to clean up his lifestyle after losing more than TWO STONE in 15 days.

Manley said: "I was very frightened and upset, I thought that was it for me.

"They said I had a form of heart failure, wired me up to an ECG machine and gave me injections and water tablets. My breathing has improved."

Manley, 48, who now weighs just over 19st, says he will not return to the oche for a month.

And he admitted: "The docs said my health would benefit if I lost weight."
